Vaudreuil-Dorion is a Greater Montreal suburb of about 38,000 where Autoroutes 20, 30 and 40 meet, on the south shore of Lac des Deux Montagnes. There is no single headline sight: the draw is a compact Old Vaudreuil strip of 18th- and 19th-century houses, a regional museum, a winery and cheaper beds than downtown Montreal, 30–45 minutes away by commuter train or car. Most travellers pass through; a night makes sense if you are driving the Windsor–Quebec corridor, visiting the Vaudreuil-Soulanges wine route, or using it as a low-cost Montreal base with a car.

Exo Route 11 commuter trains serve Vaudreuil and Dorion stations from Montreal, and CIT La Presqu'Île local buses link the stations to surrounding streets, but frequencies are commuter-oriented. Taxis and rideshare fill the gaps; walking works only inside Old Vaudreuil.
