Yeongjong Island영종도
Treat Yeongjong as an airport island, not a destination: one night near Unseo for a long layover or an early flight, or a half-day beach run from Seoul.
Yeongjong and Yongyu were once separate islands; Incheon International Airport was built on reclaimed land between them, and the AREX line and a free maglev now run across. Almost everyone transits straight to Seoul, but the west-coast beaches, the seafood market at Yeongjong Pier and the airport-town hotel strip make a workable overnight or a slow day out. Two nights is the ceiling unless you are here for a flight.

Getting around
AREX runs through the west of the island (Unseo station, about 6 min and ₩1,000 from the airport). The Incheon Airport Maglev links Terminal 1 with Yongyu station at the western tip; it reopened in October 2025, is free, runs every 35 min from 10:00 to 17:00 and is closed on Mondays. Bus 202 loops the south and west coasts hourly (about ₩1,200), and buses 223 and 203 connect the airport with the island. Distances are short, so taxis work well.

Safety
- Tides: at low tide the water pulls back into wide mudflats, so check the tide table before planning a swim.
- The maglev is free but slow and shut on Mondays; do not build a tight connection around it.
- Beach restaurants and motels thin out outside summer; some close or run short hours.
- Airport-town hotels are near-identical and priced for transit passengers: compare the free shuttle times before booking.
