Cambridge is a small Eastern Shore harbour town on the Choptank River, founded in 1684 and about halfway between the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Ocean City on US-50. The historic centre is walkable in an afternoon; the real draw is the water and the marshland around it — Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad site are both a short drive south. Most visitors come for one night, or as a stop on the way to the beach.

Getting around
The historic centre is small and walkable — High Street to Long Wharf is about 10 minutes on foot. Everything else (Blackwater, the Tubman park, Spocott Windmill) needs a car; there is no useful local bus for visitors. The Eastern Shore is flat and good cycling country. Parking in the centre is on-street and usually free.

Wildlife Drive is the main loop; drive it slowly or cycle it. Dawn and dusk are best for eagles and waterfowl.

- The Harriet Tubman Museum is small and staffed by volunteers — call ahead to confirm it is open.
