Ruvo di Puglia sits on the Murge plateau in the Metropolitan City of Bari, about 30 km west of the city, and is the third-largest municipality in Puglia by area. It is a working olive-oil and wine town with a Romanesque cathedral, a Romanesque-Gothic bell tower, the Jatta archaeological collection and a gate onto the Alta Murgia National Park. Most travellers pass through on the Bari-Barletta rail line or stop for a night between Bari and Castel del Monte.

Getting around
The historic centre is walkable in 20 minutes end to end. Ruvo station is on the Ferrotramviaria FR1/FR2 Bari-Barletta line; trains run roughly 04:00–00:00, with buses replacing trains on Sundays and holidays. STP buses link Molfetta, Terlizzi and Trani. A car is the practical way to reach Alta Murgia and Castel del Monte.
