Parrsboro
Go for one night, two if you want a full fossil-and-cliff day: the town is small, the tides set the schedule, and most sights sit on one road.
Parrsboro is a 1,200-person town on the Minas Basin, where the Bay of Fundy's highest tides twice a day expose red cliffs, tidal flats and fossils. The draw is geology and shore walking, not a city break: the Fundy Geological Museum, the Ottawa House museum, the Rock & Mineral Shop and the summer theatre fill a day, and Cape Chignecto or the Joggins cliffs fill another. Come between late May and mid-October, when the seasonal sights and restaurants are open.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- Canada ↗Visa-exempt travellers flying to or through Canada usually need an eTA; check your passport on the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and apply only there.
- Canada ↗A Parks Canada pass is needed to stop in national parks such as Banff and Jasper; some spots (for example Moraine Lake) are reached only by shuttle or tour, so book ahead.
- Canada ↗Keep well away from bears, elk and moose; carry bear spray on Rockies trails and follow trail closures.

Getting around
A car is the practical choice: Main Street runs the length of town, but the museums, Partridge Island and Cape Chignecto are spread along Highway 2 and Highway 209. There is no town bus service. Walking works for the centre, the harbour and the theatre.

Ottawa House and the Rock & Mineral Shop; a few km from the centre, so you need a car.
Fox River and Hatfield Road
Rental houses on the shore about 15–20 min out; good for groups, quiet at night.

Watch out
Safety
- The tide comes in fast over the flats: check a tide table before walking out, and never let it cut you off below the cliffs.
- Fossil collecting is restricted in places — take photos, leave the rocks; check local rules before you pocket anything.
- Many restaurants and museums are seasonal and close from mid-October; hours can change without notice.
- Cell coverage is patchy on Highway 209 toward Advocate Harbour and Cape Chignecto.
