Watch out

Safety

Sungai Penuh is generally safe. Watch for slippery paths at Bukit Khayangan and aggressive dogs in rural areas. Keep valuables out of sight in markets.
  • Rainy season (Nov–Mar) can flood roads and limit access to Kerinci Seblat.
  • ATMs are limited; bring enough cash.
  • Mosque visits: dress modestly, remove shoes.
