Stay 2–3 nights if you want the Seven Hanging Valleys walk and a car; skip it as a base if you have no car and only 2 days in the Algarve.
Carvoeiro is a small cliff-backed resort town in the Lagoa municipality of the Algarve, about 5 km south of Lagoa town and roughly 60 km west of Faro airport. It is a beach-and-walking base, not a sightseeing city: the draw is the coastal trail, the coves and the seafood, plus easy access to Benagil and the golf courses inland. Two to three nights covers it; a car makes it far better.

The centre is walkable but hilly. Buses and taxis are thin; a hire car is the practical way to reach beaches, Benagil and Lagoa. The A22 motorway is electronic-toll only — arrange payment with the rental company or at a post office.

Watch out
Safety
- Cliff edges and paths are unfenced and crumble; keep back from the rim and never walk out onto wet rock.
- The A22 uses number-plate tolls: pay via the rental car or a post office, or a fine follows you home.
- Atlantic water is cold and has rip currents; swim near lifeguards in season.
- Many restaurants and bars close or cut hours from November to March.
- The main street is a steep 600 m hill: not ideal with heavy bags or limited mobility.
