Yongin is a satellite city of Seoul in Gyeonggi province, about 40–60 minutes from Gangnam by subway or bus. It is not a sightseeing city: it is a cluster of large attractions — Everland, the Korean Folk Village, MBC's Daejanggeum Park — spread across a wide area with no walkable centre. Most travellers come for one full day, or sleep one or two nights near Suji or Giheung to avoid the return trip. A car or taxi is the practical way to link the sights.

Getting around

The Seoul metro reaches Yongin: Suin-Bundang line (Jukjeon to Sanggal), Shin-Bundang line (Dongcheon to Sanghyeon) and the Ever-Line shuttle from Giheung to Jeondae-Everland. Buses from Gangnam (5001, 5002, 5003) and Seoul Station (5000, 5005) run to Yongin; 5002 and 5700 serve Everland. Between the sights, buses are slow and taxis are the practical option — budget ₩15,000–30,000 per cross-town hop (check).

Safety

Yongin is a low-crime Seoul suburb; the real risks are traffic on wide roads, long unlit walks between attractions at night, and summer heat or monsoon rain at the outdoor parks.
  • The attractions are far apart: Everland, the Folk Village and Daejanggeum Park are 30–60 min apart by road.
  • Everland queues peak on weekends and Korean public holidays; go on a weekday at opening.
  • Some listed attractions have dead or unmaintained websites: confirm hours before travelling.
  • Taxis add a late-night surcharge; the basic fare is higher after midnight.
