Wee Waa is a small Namoi River town in the western New England region, population about 2,080, and calls itself the Cotton Capital of Australia after the first commercial cotton crop was grown here in 1961. There is one museum, a swimming pool, a golf course and a handful of cafés. You need a car: there is no taxi and no local bus, and the nearest car rental is in Narrabri. Most travellers pass through on the Kamilaroi Highway or stop one night on the drive between Narrabri and Walgett.
