Kubokawa窪川
Skip Kubokawa unless you are cycling the Shimanto River or walking the Shikoku Pilgrimage: half a day is enough to see the town and the riverbank.
Kubokawa is a small junction town in western Kochi, the terminus of the JR Dosan Line and the start of the Tosa Kuroshio railway to Cape Ashizuri. Most travellers come for the Shimanto River, Shikoku's longest free-flowing river, and the nearby Iwamoto-ji temple. The town itself is walkable in an hour; the river and the temple fill a half-day.

Getting around
Kubokawa is small enough to walk. For the Shimanto River and Iwamoto-ji, a bicycle (rent from the station area, check) or a taxi is useful. The Tosa Kuroshio railway runs along the coast.
