Bryan-College StationAggieland
Give it 2 nights if you have a Texas A&M reason or a game ticket; otherwise 1 night as a Post Oak Savannah stop between Houston and Austin.
Bryan and College Station are one metro of about 268,000 people, built around Texas A&M University. There is no train and no walkable core: you drive between a campus, a small downtown Bryan and a strip of highways. Come for a football weekend, the presidential library and Brazos Valley barbecue, or skip it if you have no campus tie.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Getting around
A car is the default: highways 6, 21 and 190 link the two cities and the region, and parking is free almost everywhere except the A&M campus and Northgate. The District runs local buses; A&M buses are for students and staff. Traffic is heavy when school is in session. There is no Amtrak service — it ended in 1995.

Northgate / campus edge
Bars and cheap eats on University Drive; loud on game weekends, meters and pay lots for parking.
Texas Avenue and Earl Rudder Freeway
Chain hotels, free parking, 5–10 min drive to campus; the practical base for one night.
Messina Hof estate, Old Reliance Road
Winery B&B and restaurant east of Bryan; needs a car and a designated driver.

Watch out
Safety
- No train: Amtrak stopped serving Bryan-College Station in 1995 and there are no plans to restore it.
- Home football Saturdays fill every hotel and jam Highway 6; book months ahead or avoid the weekend.
- Parking on grass or dirt is a city ordinance violation, and so is parking facing traffic.
- Southgate neighbourhood street parking is restricted on game days in the fall.
- Summer heat and humidity are the real health risk; carry water and plan indoor stops midday.
