Oku-Hida Onsen Villages
Spend 1–2 days exploring the five hot‑spring villages; a day is enough for baths, a second day for a short hike or ropeway.
The Oku‑Hida Onsengō are five remote onsen hamlets in the northern Japan Alps of Gifu. Buses from Tokyo take 4½ h; the villages are linked by infrequent buses, so a car gives flexibility. Most visitors stay 1 night for the baths; add a second night for a hike or the Shinhotaka ropeway.
