Faridabad is Haryana's most populous city, grown out of Delhi's sprawl about 25 km south of the capital. It has a metro link, a handful of monuments and India's henna trade, but most travellers pass through. The one strong reason to come is Surajkund and its February crafts Mela; otherwise sleep in Delhi and day-trip.

Getting around

The Delhi Metro Violet Line runs into Faridabad (stations include Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar). Autos and cycle-rickshaws cover the rest: agree the fare before you get in. Haryana Roadways buses run local routes and are cheaper than autos. Distances are long and spread out — plan on autos or app cabs for anything off the metro line.

Watch out

Safety

Faridabad is ordinary urban India: petty theft and traffic are the real risks, not violent crime. Women travelling alone report more hassle after dark — use app cabs, not empty streets. 112 for anything urgent.
  • Autos and rickshaws quote high first: fix the price before boarding.
  • Some Delhi–Faridabad buses drop passengers at the border; onward autos there are crowded — take the metro instead.
  • Bhadkal Jheel is dry and barren; locals avoid it. Do not plan a trip around it.
  • Summer heat from April to June is dangerous for long walks; carry water.
  • Air quality is poor in winter, worst around November–January.
