Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu
Skip as a base: a riverside village of about 2,100 people, worth a half-day stop for the ferry, church and campsites, not a night unless you are camping.
Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu is a small municipality on the west bank of the Richelieu River in the Pierre-De Saurel area of Quebec, roughly 65 km from Montreal. It is a boating, camping and rural stop rather than a sightseeing town: a 19th-century church, a seasonal river ferry to Saint-Ours, two campgrounds and horse ranches. Most travellers pass through on Route 223 or arrive by boat.

Getting around
A car is the practical way to reach the village and its dispersed rural sights, campgrounds and ranches; check current local transit availability before relying on it. Route 223 runs along the west bank of the Richelieu River and Autoroute 30 is the main highway link to the north; check a current map for the exact approach to the village. The seasonal ferry links the village dock at the end of rue Principale to Saint-Ours on the east bank, saving the long detour to the Autoroute 20 or 30 bridges.

- The Saint-Ours ferry runs roughly April to December, depending on river conditions; in winter an ice bridge is built there for car traffic. Both are subject to current conditions: check before you drive to the dock.
- Campgrounds are seasonal and fill on summer weekends: book ahead.
- Village services are limited; fuel, groceries and pharmacies are in Sorel-Tracy.
