Rules in force · 8Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Britain and Ireland ↗Neither the UK nor Ireland is part of Schengen: days spent here do not count towards the 90/180-day Schengen limit, and a Schengen visa does not admit you to either country.
  • Britain and Ireland ↗The island of Ireland runs on two currencies: euro in the Republic, pound sterling in Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Carry a card that pays in both without fees.
  • Britain and Ireland ↗Both islands drive on the left. Speed limits are in miles per hour in the UK (including Northern Ireland) and in kilometres per hour in the Republic of Ireland.
  • United Kingdom ↗Most visitors who do not need a UK visa now need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling; this includes EU nationals. Irish citizens are exempt. Check the UK government site for your passport.
  • United Kingdom ↗The UK is outside the EU and the Schengen area; a Schengen visa is not valid for the UK.
  • United Kingdom ↗Driving is on the left; London has congestion and emissions charges for most vehicles, so do not drive in the city.

Camberley is a Surrey commuter town 50 km southwest of central London, grown up around the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. The centre is a compact high street with a mall, a theatre and chain restaurants; the interest is on the edges — the Basingstoke Canal at Mytchett, Frimley Lodge Park and the military museums at Deepcut. Most travellers pass through; a night here works if you are visiting Sandhurst, walking the canal or want a cheaper bed near Heathrow and the M3.

Arrive & move

Airports are listed under At a glance; this is how to move once you are in

Getting around

The centre is small enough to walk: station to The Mall is about 5 minutes. Buses run from both sides of the road by the station to Farnborough, Aldershot, Guildford and London, and out to Frimley, Heatherside and Mytchett. A car is the practical option for the canal, Deepcut and the golf courses. Hackney cabs can be hailed or booked and use Surrey Heath regulated fares; minicabs must be pre-booked and the price agreed.

Watch out

Safety

A low-crime commuter town; the real issues are unlit canal towpaths after dark, weekend drink crowds around the High Street, and unregulated minicab fares — agree the price before you get in.
  • Camberley station is on a branch line: trains about every 30 min, and you usually change at Ascot from London Waterloo (about 1 h 15 min total).
  • Farnborough Main, 5 km south, has three direct trains an hour from Waterloo in 35–50 min; bus 1 links it to Camberley.
  • Sandhurst is a working military academy: check visiting rules before you travel, and do not expect to walk in.
  • The M3 Junction 4 and A30 get heavy at weekday rush hour; add time for airport runs.
  • Some rural lanes and canal paths outside the centre have patchy phone signal.

  2. Three walking clusters with rescue anchors: High Street and The Mall, The Atrium, the station and London Road.
  3. Place pages with verified hours (Royal Logistic Corps Museum, Camberley Theatre, Arena Leisure Centre) and eat pages with last orders.
  4. Canal and park fixtures for Frimley Lodge Park and the Basingstoke Canal so gates A–D can go green.
