Give Suzdal one night and a full day: the Kremlin, St. Euthymius and the Intercession Convent take 6–8 h on foot, and the bus from Vladimir is 40 min.
Suzdal is a town of about 10,000 people, 25 km north of Vladimir, with no railway station and no buildings over two storeys except the cathedrals. Its Kremlin, four monasteries and wooden church museum sit inside a bend of the Kamenka river, all walkable in a day. Most travellers come from Vladimir by bus and sleep one night.

Getting around
The historic core is small and flat: walk it. Local buses run four routes but you will rarely need them. Taxis wait by the trading arcade and are the practical way to reach Kideksha, 4 km east. The bus station is 1 km east of the centre, a 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride.
