Suzdal is a town of about 10,000 people, 25 km north of Vladimir, with no railway station and no buildings over two storeys except the cathedrals. Its Kremlin, four monasteries and wooden church museum sit inside a bend of the Kamenka river, all walkable in a day. Most travellers come from Vladimir by bus and sleep one night.

- No trains reach Suzdal: the nearest station is Vladimir, then a 40-minute bus.
- Buses from Vladimir run roughly every 20–30 min from about 06:30 to 21:40; confirm the last return before you leave.
- Street sellers of medovukha are common and counterfeits are reported: buy in a shop or café instead.
- Carriage and sleigh rides start at steep prices; agree the price and route before you get in.
