Mission
Give Mission one full day, not a base: the abbey view, the Stó:lō longhouse and the powerhouse are a loop, and Vancouver is 75 min by train.
Mission is a Fraser Valley town of about 39,000 on the north bank of the Fraser, 70 km east of Vancouver. It has a Benedictine abbey on a 180 m bluff, a Stó:lō interpretive centre, a preserved 1912 powerhouse and a riverfront core that is walkable in an afternoon. Most travellers pass through on the Highway 7 route or the West Coast Express commuter train; one night is enough unless you are here for the November eagle count.

Safety
- West Coast Express runs Monday–Friday only, with morning trains toward Vancouver and afternoon trains back: a weekend visit needs a car or bus.
- VIA Rail's The Canadian stops at Mission Harbour eastbound and at Abbotsford westbound — different stations, check which one your direction uses.
- The powerhouse closes from mid-October to March except by appointment.
- Winter brings steady rain and early darkness; the bluff viewpoint is often in cloud.
