Stop 1–2 hours, not a night, unless you are tubing the Pembina or camping: it is a rest break on Highway 16 between Edmonton and Jasper.
Entwistle and Evansburg are twin hamlets on the Pembina River, about 4.5 km apart at the junction of Highway 16 (Yellowhead) and Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail). They exist for travellers: fuel, food, a museum, river tubing and a provincial park campground. There is no town centre to wander for a day, so treat them as a leg-stretch or a tubing base, not a destination.

Getting around
You need a car. The two hamlets are 4.5 km apart along Highway 16A — about 7 min to drive, roughly an hour to walk. There is no local transit. VIA Rail's The Canadian passes Evansburg station, a flag stop with no facilities that requires 48 hours' notice; it is not a practical arrival for a short visit.

- Highway 16 is a busy truck route: expect fast traffic, wildlife at dawn and dusk, and winter ice.
- Evansburg rail station is a flag stop with no shelter or staff — arrange the stop 48 hours ahead or you will watch the train go by.
- Cell coverage is patchy in the river gorge and along Highway 22; download offline maps.
- Summer weekends fill the provincial park campground; reserve rather than arrive and hope.
- River tubing depends on water levels and weather: confirm the operator is running before you drive out.
