Shefford is a rural township in the Eastern Townships, wrapped around the town of Waterloo and sitting between Granby and Bromont. There is no village core to walk: the draw is Mont Shefford (525 m), the L'Estriade cycle path, farm shops, a cidery and a hilltop microbrewery. Come with a car, sleep in a gîte or chalet, and treat it as a quiet base for the Bromont–Granby–Waterloo cluster rather than a destination on its own.

Getting around
A car is effectively required: addresses are scattered along rural chemins and there is no local bus network. Autoroute 10 runs between Granby and Bromont, with Route 112 and Route 241 as the local links. Cycling works on L'Estriade (about 97 km, starting in downtown Waterloo) and on the quiet back roads, but shoulders are narrow in places.
