Manises
Treat Manises as a ceramics half-day plus an airport bed, not a base: 2–3 h from Valencia by metro, or one night before an early flight.
Manises is a ceramics town of about 31,000 people on the western edge of Valencia, and Valencia Airport (VLC) sits inside its boundary. Ceramics have been made here for at least 700 years and the town still holds Spain's largest cluster of workshops, with more than 100 in the city. The old centre is walkable in an afternoon; the real reason to sleep here is a flight before the metro starts running.

Getting around
The centre is flat and walkable: museum, church, aqueduct and the ceramics shops on Carrer Major, Carrer del Mestre Guillem and Avinguda Blasco Ibáñez are all within about 15 minutes on foot. Metro lines 3 and 5 stop at Manises and Rosas, then continue to Aeroport; from Valencia a single ride is €2.10 and from the airport €2.80. Bus line 150 from Valencia's Àngel Guimerà runs roughly every 15 minutes to the airport. Taxis: Radio Taxi Manises and Inter Taxi CB.
