Szklarska Poręba is a year-round resort in the Giant Mountains, with the tallest waterfall in the Sudetes and 12 km of ski runs on Szrenica. It is quieter than Karpacz and better for hikers who want direct trail access from the town centre. Most visitors stay one or two nights.

Safety

Very safe. The main risks are slippery trails after rain, sudden weather changes in the mountains, and icy pavements in winter. Carry a headlamp if hiking late.
  • Parking is paid and scarce in the centre; confirm your lodging has a spot.
  • Trail markers in Karkonosze National Park are colour-coded; carry a map or offline app.
  • Ski lifts close around 16:00; last descent well before that.
  • Cash is still needed for some small shops and parking meters.
