Miami is a town of about 13,700 in Oklahoma's Green Country, on old Route 66 between Tulsa and Joplin. It is the capital of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and five other tribal nations, so the casinos are the main draw for many visitors. The historic core is small and walkable; the Route 66 relics sit a short drive south. Most travellers pass through in an afternoon or sleep one night before pushing on.

Getting around
You need a car. The town spreads along US 69 and Main Street with no useful local bus; Pelivan Transit runs rural routes across the region from Big Cabin, not a town service. Downtown is walkable once parked — Coleman Theatre to the Dobson Museum is about 5 minutes on foot. The nine-foot road is about 6 mi (10 km) south of downtown, so drive.
