Storrs is the village around the University of Connecticut main campus in Mansfield, eastern Connecticut. It is a campus town, not a sightseeing town: free museums, Huskies basketball, a dairy bar and a walkable core. Most travellers pass through on the way to Hartford, Boston or the Mystic coast.

Walk. The campus and Storrs Center are compact and connected on foot. Husky Go shuttles run around campus and downtown and are free for all passengers. A car is needed for anything off campus, including Willimantic, the highway and most day trips.

Campus and Storrs Center are well lit and busy in term time; the real risks are winter ice, deer on CT-195 at dusk and quiet unlit roads off campus at night.
  • Campus is quiet outside term time: check the academic calendar before booking a visit for museums or events.
  • Basketball games sell out; buy tickets ahead and expect traffic around Gampel Pavilion on game nights.
  • No train station in Storrs: the nearest rail links are Hartford and Willimantic, both by road.
  • Winter ice on pavements and unplowed side roads; drive slowly on CT-195 after snow.
