Give Akşehir one night, not a base: a compact half-day of Nasreddin Hoca sights and Ottoman mosques, then move on by bus or the night train.
Akşehir is a small Konya-province town in the Lakes District, best known as the home of Nasreddin Hoca, the wise-fool figure of Anatolian tales. The sights sit in a walkable core: his tomb, two Ottoman-era mosques, a house museum and a 1921 headquarters museum. It is a stop between Konya and Afyon, not a destination in itself, and one night is enough.
