Chappaqua is a small Westchester hamlet in the Town of New Castle, about an hour by Metro-North from Grand Central. It is a residential suburb known for its schools, a Quaker meeting house from 1753 and the Horace Greeley House. There is no hotel cluster and almost no nightlife, so most visitors see it as a half-day from a nearby Westchester base.

Metro-North Harlem Line stops at Chappaqua station (108 Allen Place), about 1 h to Grand Central. In town the sights are 1–3 km apart on roads with thin or no sidewalks, so a car or rideshare is the practical way to reach Gedney Park, Glazier Preserve and Whippoorwill Park. Saw Mill River Parkway is the main road link.

- The Clintons' house at 15 Old House Ln is private property: view from the street only, do not walk up the drive.
- Trails at Whippoorwill Park are for experienced hikers; roots and rocks, and they get icy in winter.
