Give Mokpo 1–2 nights as a ferry or island base, not a sightseeing stop: the cable car, Yudalsan and the seafood market fill a day.
Mokpo is the southwestern rail terminus and the ferry port for Jeju and the small islands of Dadohae. The old downtown sits between Yudalsan and the sea, and the food — raw skate, octopus, beltfish — is the reason locals rate it. Two nights covers the cable car, the museums and a market meal without rushing.

Getting around
No subway. City buses cover the centre and Namak; trunk buses run every 12–18 min, others about every 25 min. Taxis are cheap and the practical choice for the cable car, Gatbawi and the ferry terminal. A rental car helps for Gohado and the Yeongam circuit.

- Mokpo is the rail terminus. The daily Bujeon train from Busan takes over 6 h; the KTX via Osong is a faster alternative.
