Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) is a culture-and-recreation park in East Jakarta built to show Indonesia's provinces in one place: pavilions, museums, religious buildings, gardens and a lake with a miniature archipelago. It is a single-day sight, best in the dry months, and you base yourself in Jakarta and travel out. Plan one full day; two only if you want the museums slowly and the evening fountain show.

Arrive & move

Getting around
Inside the park, walk or use the electric mini shuttle buses (north and south corridors), rent a cycle (about Rp15,000 single / Rp25,000 double per hour), or ride the Skylift cable car between three stations. The elevated tram system has been suspended — check before relying on it. To reach TMII: Jabodebek LRT to TMII station, then the free shuttle (every 15–20 min); Transjakarta BRT to the Makasar stop, then a 2 km walk or ride-hailing to Gate 3; or ride-hailing (Gojek/Grab) door to door.
See & do
Day-trips, door to door
Day-trips
Door to door: 1–1.5 h
Ride-hailing or Transjakarta/LRT into central Jakarta
Pair with a museum or two; go early to beat heat and traffic.
Door to door: 2–2.5 h
Train from Jakarta to Bogor, then local transport
A long day from East Jakarta; better as an overnight or from a central base.
Door to door: 3–4 h
Train or car via the toll road
Too far for a return day trip; sleep there.
Eat & sleep
Which area to sleep in
Where to sleep
Areas, not hotels: pick the one that fits your arrival time and plans.
Jakarta city centre (Thamrin/Sudirman)
Best transport links and hotel choice; 45–90 min to TMII by car or ride-hailing, longer at rush hour.
East Jakarta (near TMII / Cawang)
Shortest transfer to the park gate; fewer tourist services, mostly local hotels.
Near a Jabodebek LRT station
The LRT has a TMII stop with a free shuttle to the main pedestrian entrance; pick a hotel on the line to skip road traffic.
