Rules in force · 9Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Iberia ↗Plan meals on the Iberian clock: Spanish kitchens serve lunch from about 13:30–14:00 and dinner from 20:30–21:00; Portugal eats an hour or so earlier. Early evenings are for tapas or petiscos, not full meals.
  • Iberia ↗Inland Spain and Portugal (Seville, Córdoba, Madrid, the Alentejo) pass 40 °C in heatwaves from late June to August: sightsee before 11:00 and after 18:00, and keep July–August for the coasts and the green north.
  • Iberia ↗Andorra and Gibraltar have their own border and customs rules and are reached only through Spain (or France for Andorra); read their pages before adding them, especially if you hold a limited Schengen visa.
  • Spain ↗Spain is in the Schengen area. Check the entry rules for your passport on official sources; the EU's Entry/Exit System registers non-EU visitors at the first Schengen border, and further pre-travel authorisation rules are being introduced.
  • Spain ↗High-speed trains have airport-style baggage screening at the station and boarding gates that close a few minutes before departure: arrive early.
  • Spain ↗Carry your passport or ID: police may ask for it, and hotels must register every guest's document.
  • Spain ↗The Alhambra in Granada and the Sagrada Família in Barcelona sell timed tickets that sell out weeks ahead in season; book on the official sites before you fix your dates.

Moraira is a former fishing village in the Teulada-Moraira municipality on the Costa Blanca, between Calpe and Xàbia. It stayed low-rise while Benidorm went vertical, so it suits couples, families and long-stay visitors who want beaches, coves and seafood rice rather than clubs. There is no town bus service and no tram station in the town, so a car or taxi decides how much you see.

Arrive & move

Airports are listed under At a glance; this is how to move once you are in

Getting around

There is no public transport inside Moraira. Walk the centre and the coastal path; for everything else use a car, taxi or bike. The nearest TRAM light-rail station is in Teulada, about 5 km inland, with no bus link to the beach — take a taxi. Autobuses Ifach runs the L3 to Calpe roughly twice a day.

See & do

Day-trips, door to door

Day-trips

Door-to-door, not ride time

Calpe and Penyal d'Ifac

go

Door to door: About 25 min by car; under 20 min by bus

Drive the N-332 or AP-7, or the L3 bus from Avinguda de Madrid

The rock's summit path needs a free timed booking in high season — check before you go.

Xàbia (Jávea)

go

Door to door: About 30–35 min

Drive north on the N-332 or AP-7

Old town, port and coves; pair with a lunch stop.

Dénia

go

Door to door: About 45 min by car

Drive north, or TRAM from Teulada with a change

Castle, port and the ferry to the Balearics.

Altea

go

Door to door: About 45 min

Drive south on the AP-7

White old town on the hill and a pebble beach.

Benidorm

caution

Door to door: About 50 min

Drive south on the AP-7

The opposite of Moraira: high-rises and crowds. Go for a beach day, not for calm.

Teulada and the winery

go

Door to door: About 15 min

Drive or taxi inland, or TRAM to Teulada

Cooperativa Sant Vicent Ferrer tastings need a reservation.

Alicante

caution

Door to door: About 1 h 15 min

Drive south on the AP-7

Better as an airport stop than a day trip from here.

Which area to sleep in

Where to sleep

Areas, not hotels: pick the one that fits your arrival time and plans.

Town centre and Platja de l'Ampolla

Walk to the castle, the beach and most restaurants; best for a short stay without a car.

Portet and Cap d'Or side

Quieter coves and the footpath to the watchtower; 20–30 min walk or a short drive from the centre.

Teulada village

Inland, cheaper, near the TRAM station and the winery; you need a car or taxi for the beach.

Hills above Moraira (Cumbres del Sol, Paichi)

Villas and holiday rentals with pools and parking; nothing is walkable from here.

Watch out

Safety

Moraira is a low-crime resort town; the real risks are summer sun and sea, unlit coastal paths at night, and rental cars broken into at beach car parks — leave nothing visible.
  • No town bus: without a car or taxi, beaches outside the centre are hard to reach.
  • The L3 bus to Calpe runs only about twice daily — check the timetable before you rely on it.
  • Summer parking near Platja de l'Ampolla fills early; arrive before mid-morning.
  • Rocky coves such as Cala de l'Andragó have no sand and uneven entry — wear shoes.
  • Many restaurants close one weekday and shut between lunch and dinner; book in July and August.

  2. Four walking clusters with rescue anchors: castle and Ampolla, Portet and Cap d'Or, centre restaurants, Teulada village.
  3. Place pages with verified hours (Castell de Moraira, Torre del Cap d'Or, tourist office) and eat pages with closing days.
  4. Summer and storm fixtures so beach and cove pages can go green.
