Bouzigues is a working shellfish port on the Étang de Thau, about 1,700 residents, with a medieval core and a seafront of oyster restaurants. It calls itself the oyster capital of France. There is very little accommodation, so most visitors come for lunch and leave; one night is enough to see it properly.

Getting around
Everything in the centre is a short walk; the seafront to the old town is about 10 minutes. The Voie Verte cycle path runs along the former railway to Mèze and Balaruc-les-Bains, 12 km each way. Hérault Transport buses reach Mèze, Montpellier and local villages, but not many direct destinations, so a car or bike helps for the wider Thau basin.
