Rishon LeTzionראשון לציון
Skip as a base: there are no hotels here. Come for half a day from Tel Aviv for the old colony, the winery and the beach, or sleep in Tel Aviv.
Rishon LeTzion is Israel's fourth-largest city, founded in 1882 and one of the first Zionist settlements, 30–45 minutes by bus from Tel Aviv. The draw is a compact old centre — the 1883 well, the first Hebrew-speaking school, Rothschild's administrative building, the Great Synagogue and the Carmel Winery — plus a beach on the western edge and a big mall-and-cinema belt. It is a working city, not a resort, and it has no hotels of its own.

Getting around
Egged runs about 10 internal bus lines; most intercity buses from Tel Aviv (19, 74, 190, 193, 201, 274) also work inside the city. Two rail stations serve it: HaRishonim in the south and Moshe Dayan in the west. Ride-hailing (Yango) and taxis fill the gaps; the old centre is walkable in 20 minutes.

Near HaRishonim station
If you only need a bed near the southern rail stop, look at the Azrieli Rishonim mall area; options are limited — check before booking.
