Getting around
The centre is walkable: Jam Gadang, Pasar Ateh, Fort de Kock and the canyon are 15–30 min apart on foot. Angkot minibuses cost about Rp4,000 a trip; red ones terminate at Pasar Bawah. Gojek and Maxim cover the city — Maxim is usually cheaper for short rides but is cash-only. Scooter rental runs about Rp70,000 a day; confirm whether a day means 24 hours.
