Münster
Give Münster one full day and one night: the old centre is walkable in 3–4 hours, and a rented bike covers the lake and palace gardens.
Münster is the cultural centre of Westphalia and a university city of about 300,000 people, half of them students. The rebuilt Prinzipalmarkt, the cathedral and the Peace Hall sit inside a compact ring road, so most of the city is seen on foot or by bike in a day. It works as a stop between the Ruhr and the Netherlands, or as a base for the flat Münsterland countryside.

Getting around
No tram or U-Bahn: walk inside the ring, cycle beyond it. Buses run 05:00–01:00 on weekdays and around the clock at weekends, most lines every 20 min, but all routes change around 21:00 and late gaps reach 70 min. Buy tickets from the driver at a surcharge if machines are scarce; card payment is often not accepted. Rent a bike at Radstation by the station (€8/day, e-bikes and tandems available).

Safety
- Red-brick strips on pavements are cycle lanes: stand on them and you will be rung at, or hit.
- Saturday traffic into the centre is heavy; use the free P+R lots on the main approach roads.
- Bus ticket machines are sparse and often cash-only; carry coins or buy in the app.
- Münster's rain comes as many light wet days rather than downpours: pack a shell, not an umbrella you mind losing.
- The Peace Hall is a small room inside the Rathaus and closes for events: check before you build a day around it.
