Go for one night, not two: the fort takes 3 hours, and the town below has little else. Skip it entirely if you are not already passing Udaipur–Ajmer.
Chittorgarh is a fort town on the Udaipur–Ajmer rail and road line, 112 km from Udaipur. The hill fort — a UNESCO World Heritage site — is the reason to come, and it is a half-day visit. Most travellers see it as a stop between Udaipur and Bundi or Ajmer, or as a day trip from Udaipur.

Autos and taxis handle the town and the 1 km climb to Ram Pol. An auto tour of the fort with waiting time is quoted around ₹125–150 (2026 estimate, check the waiting time first). A bicycle works on the flat fort top but the climb is hard. The fort's circular road links all seven gates and the monuments.
