Stay 3–4 nights if you surf or work remotely; skip Canggu if you want calm water swimming or hate traffic — the sand is black and the lanes jam.
Canggu is an 8 km coastal strip of black-sand surf beaches, cafés and villas running from Berawa up to Cemagi, north of Seminyak and south of Tanah Lot. It suits surfers, remote workers and villa groups. The beaches are poor for swimming, and traffic on the main lanes is the area's real cost.

Getting around
Most people rent a scooter or use ride-hailing apps for short hops; some guesthouses rent bicycles for the rice-field lanes. Traffic on Jl Raya Canggu and Jl Pantai Batu Bolong is slow at peak hours, so allow extra time for any cross-area trip. Walking works only within one village cluster.
