Tamura田村市
Skip Tamura unless you are a caving enthusiast: the Abukuma-do and Irimizu caves are the only reasons to stop. A half-day trip from Koriyama is enough.
Tamura is a small city in Fukushima Prefecture formed by a 2005 merger. Its main draws are two limestone caves – the family-friendly Abukuma-do and the wild Irimizu – plus a beetle park and a cherry tree. Most travellers pass through on the Banetsu East Line without stopping.
