Pioche is a former silver-mining town of about 1,000 people and the Lincoln County seat, on US-93 between Las Vegas and Ely. It sits at roughly 1,850 m, so summers are far cooler than Las Vegas and winters bring snow. The draw is a compact historic Main Street, a museum, Boot Hill Cemetery and two state parks within a short drive. There is no public transit and no airport: you need a car.
