Mount Gilead is the seat of Morrow County, a small town of about 3,700 people on SR 42 and SR 61 between Columbus and Mansfield. There is no public transport and no hotel in the centre; the draw is a courthouse square, a county museum, a state park with camping and the I-71 exit for the state trapshooting grounds. Most travellers see it in a few hours on the way somewhere else.
