The honest verdict

Oranjestad is one very small town split into a hill (Upper Town) and a shore (Lower Town), with an airport a few minutes away and a dormant volcano at its edge. There is no public transport plan, so a guesthouse pickup, a hired car or a scooter joins the four areas. Weather and the small-plane connection through Sint Maarten decide whether the trip runs on time.
