Northeastern Albania is not one destination but three: the Drin valley and Kukës in the centre, the Dibër highlands around Peshkopi in the south, and the Tropojë–Valbona corner against Kosovo in the north. They are 2–4 hours apart on mountain roads. Pick one, sleep there, and day-trip outward. Trying to see all three in three days means most of your daylight is spent in a furgon.

Kukës to Peshkopi is roughly 3 hours by road; Kukës to Bajram Curri about 2. Do not plan both on the same day.
Mountain roads here are unlit and unmarked in places. Arrive before dark.
Winter snow can close the Qafa Prushit and Vermosh crossings and the Valbona road; check before travelling November to April.

Drin valley (Kukës, Fierzë): Continental; July and August reach the low 30s °C, January nights well below freezing. Rain spreads across spring and autumn.
Dibër and Tropojë highlands (Peshkopi, Bajram Curri, Valbona): Snow from November to March; the high passes and the Valbona road can stay shut into April. Summer days are mild, nights cool.

Best window is June to early October for the highlands, April to October for the valleys. July and August are the driest and busiest; the Lura Lakes and Valbona fill with domestic visitors then.
