New Glasgow is a town of about 9,500 on Nova Scotia's Northumberland Shore, split by the tidal East River and 165 km northeast of Halifax on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is a service town, not a sight town: the draw is Pictou County pizza, a walkable downtown, beaches 10 minutes away, and its place in Canadian civil rights history at the Roseland Theatre. Without a car there is little reason to stop.
