Monmouth County is a suburban stretch of the Jersey Shore, about an hour south of New York City by train. The North Jersey Coast Line links the shore towns, but the inland towns, parks and beaches need a car. Sleep in Red Bank for restaurants and nightlife, in Asbury Park for the boardwalk and music, or inland near the Garden State Parkway for cheaper chain hotels.
