Miryang is a small inland city between Busan and Daegu, on the Gyeongbu rail line, known for the Miryang Arirang folk song, the Yeongnamnu pavilion over the Miryang River, and mountain valleys to the north. Sights are spread across the county, so a car or taxi changes what you can see. Most travellers use it as a one-night stop or a day trip from Busan or Daegu.

Getting around

Neither Miryang Station nor the intercity bus terminal is walkable to the centre — both are about 3 km out, so take a taxi or local bus. In town, walking works between Yeongnamnu, City Hall and the restaurant streets. For Wiyangji, Eoreumgol, Pyochungsa and Twin Tunnel, a car or taxi is the practical option; local buses run to the outer towns but slowly. Cycling is popular on the flat riverside and valley roads.

Safety

Miryang is a low-crime small city; the real risks are rural roads after dark, summer heat and heavy rain, and long taxi fares if you misjudge distances.
  • Sights are spread across the county: without a car or taxi budget, you will see the centre only.
  • Eoreumgol is a summer escape for Busan residents — weekends in July and August are busy.
  • Twin Tunnel and the meteorological museum have limited hours and close on some days: check before you go.
  • Late-night taxi surcharge applies roughly 22:00–04:00, and fares rise for trips outside the city limits.
  • Summer is hot and wet inland — 65% of annual rain falls in June–August.
