Maumere is a small port town on Flores's north coast, useful mainly as the island's eastern air gateway and a break on the long road between Ende and Labuan Bajo. The town itself has little to see; the beaches and dive sites sit 3–30 km east or west, so where you sleep matters more than what you do. Two nights is enough for most travellers, one if you are only passing through.
