LimogesLimoges, Ontario
Stop for Calypso Water Park and one night, not a base: 1 day covers the village, 2 if you add Gagnon Park and a swim day.
Limoges is a village of about 2,000 people in The Nation township, Prescott-Russell, Eastern Ontario, 2 km north of Highway 417 exit 79 and roughly 40 km east of Ottawa. Almost nobody comes for the village itself: the draw is Calypso Water Park, Canada's largest theme waterpark, plus a small historic house museum at Gagnon Park. One night is enough unless you are using it as a cheap, quiet base for Ottawa and the surrounding townships.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- Canada ↗Visa-exempt travellers flying to or through Canada usually need an eTA; check your passport on the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and apply only there.
- Canada ↗A Parks Canada pass is needed to stop in national parks such as Banff and Jasper; some spots (for example Moraine Lake) are reached only by shuttle or tour, so book ahead.
- Canada ↗Keep well away from bears, elk and moose; carry bear spray on Rockies trails and follow trail closures.

Getting around
You need a car. Highway 417 exit 79 puts you on Limoges Road, 2 km north of the village and about the same distance south to Embrun. The 417 Bus Line commuter service runs from Ottawa, but tickets must be bought in cash from the driver, and it is aimed at commuters, not sightseeing. Local roads are flat and quiet; cycling is fine on the shoulder but there is no trail network in the village.
