The upper Ottawa Valley is Renfrew County: river towns 20–40 minutes apart, back roads, whitewater and winter trails. There is no rail or useful bus network, so a car decides the trip. Base once in Pembroke or Renfrew and loop out; the towns themselves are small, the value is the water, the caves and the driving between them.
