Eastern Ontario runs along two water lines: the Ottawa River in the north and the St. Lawrence in the south, with the Rideau Canal linking them through the middle. Ottawa is the only big city and the only airport of size; Kingston is the smaller base on Lake Ontario. Everything else is towns 30–90 minutes apart, so pick one or two bases and drive or ride the corridor rather than moving hotels each night.
