Kurzeme is Latvia's western coast: 400 km of wind-beaten shoreline, fishing villages, two port cities (Liepāja, Ventspils) and the UNESCO old town of Kuldīga inland. Public buses link the main towns but not the coast road, the dunes or Cape Kolka. With a car, 3–4 days covers the coast; without one, choose Kuldīga or Liepāja and treat the rest as a separate trip.

- Sea wind keeps the coast cooler than inland in summer; July–August is the only reliably warm window. Winter is dark and wet, with short daylight.
June and early July can be rainy; late July and August are the safest beach months. Midsummer (Jāņi, 23–24 June) books out guesthouses along the coast.
