Spend 1–2 days in Klaten: see the sugar museum, Merak Temple and a natural pool; arrive by train from Yogyakarta or Solo.

Klaten Regency sits between Yogyakarta and Solo in Central Java. Its main attractions are a small museum, a 10th‑century Hindu temple and several natural swimming pools. A half‑day train ride from either city makes it a convenient day‑trip or a brief overnight stop.
