Kerrobert
Stop for 2–3 hours on a Highway 51 drive, not a night: four heritage buildings, a museum and a golf course, all walkable in one loop.
Kerrobert is a town of about 970 people on Highways 21, 31 and 51, roughly 180 km west of Saskatoon and 65 km east of the Alberta line. It is an agricultural and oil-and-gas service centre with four heritage landmarks, a small courthouse museum and a nine-hole golf course. Almost everyone arrives by car and treats it as a break in a longer Saskatchewan drive. There is no public transit, no rail service and no reason to plan more than a half day unless you are staying for work.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- Canada ↗Visa-exempt travellers flying to or through Canada usually need an eTA; check your passport on the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and apply only there.
- Canada ↗A Parks Canada pass is needed to stop in national parks such as Banff and Jasper; some spots (for example Moraine Lake) are reached only by shuttle or tour, so book ahead.
- Canada ↗Keep well away from bears, elk and moose; carry bear spray on Rockies trails and follow trail closures.

Getting around
A private car is a necessity to reach Kerrobert and to leave it. Inside town the grid is flat and walkable: the courthouse, water tower, bank building and rail station are all within a few minutes of each other. There is no local bus, no taxi rank and no rideshare coverage; plan your fuel and food stops before you arrive.

Watch out
Safety
- Fuel up in Kindersley, Unity or Rosetown if you are unsure about the next stretch; small-town pumps can be card-only or closed late.
- Winter driving on Highway 51 and Highway 21 brings black ice, drifting snow and long gaps between services; check the provincial highway conditions before setting out.
- Cell coverage is fine in town but patchy on the back roads; download offline maps.
- Museum hours are limited to weekday mornings: check before you build a stop around it.
